Prior to initiating his architectural practice in the early 1980’s, David Slovic received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Cornell University, a Masters of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, a Loeb Fellowship from Harvard University, was awarded the Paul Phillip Cret Gold Medal in Design, worked in the office of Louis I. Kahn and was a founding partner of Friday Architects/Planners. From 1983 to 1992, David Slovic was the Henry Luce Professor of Architecture and Society at Tulane University. Mr. Slovic has taught, lectured and been visiting critic at various institutions including Rice University, Yale University, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, UCLA, Columbia University, University of Madrid, and University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires. Participation in architectural exhibitions includes Projective Images at P.S.1. in New York, Architectural Ornament in the 20th Century at Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the Venice Biennale, the Lisbon Trienale di Arquitectura and exhibited drawings at Tulane University and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Recent architectural projects include the Latimer House, Philadelphia, where the architect currently resides, and a new urban design vision for the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, a major Philadelphia Boulevard. Recent art exhibitions include “[Some] Photography [Abstract]” at Larry Becker Contemporary Art, Philadelphia and “Now – In real Time” at Nexus Gallery, Philadelphia.
